  1. I really, really like the detail in the last drawing, the 60 minute one. I loved your use of shadow, subtle, but it still added dimension and reality. You really seem to be progressing nicely. Oh, and the "Study in Color and Drapery," first of all, I love the color and have no idea of how you created the drapery. I love it, the folds of the dress make it so real. And what of the paper, the background. Is it really crinkled or is it on material?

    1. I really appreciate your interest; I always feel a little odd posting my work, but I'm getting over it:) The 60 minute drawing is definitely one of my best life drawings...it was completed near the end of the term so I'd had some practice:) As for the drapery & color study...purely experimental...I had gotten some new soft pastels and wanted to try them out. It's done on simple newsprint because I hadn't yet even decided what I was going to do when I did it...afterwards I sprayed the page to protect the pastel and it created the wrinkled look...it worked...by lucky happenstance:)

  2. I'm really digging the "she's bored. and, a little dirty --> " collage. kind of reminds me of this collage by hannah hoch: http://cdn2.all-art.org/art_20th_century/cubism/hoch/6.jpg ... also, some of martha rolser's collages: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2008/09/05/arts/rosler-audioss/index.html

    1. I went to those suggested sites...I really enjoyed both...but the Martha Rolser site really spoke to me...WOW...I really admire her work...but as she said, 'it all says the same thing'...just different perspectives...I love it...the connection to each of us as individuals & as a whole...the deeper meaning of the past in our present, predicting our future...how cool would it be to have an artists speak with her!

  3. Thanks Kate...I think I surprised myself with that one:)There's just a lot of irritation associated with the images I chose for that piece...GRRRRRRRR! I'll give those sites a peek, thanks:)

  4. Your sketches of nudes are great. I admire your work, as I cannot draw a straight line with the help of a ruler! The human figure is always the hardest...
